When you understand which type of natural hair type you have and its tendencies, you can come up with a formula and tools, and the right BodipHier products to achieve the hairstyles that you want, easily. Every strand of hair is composed of cuticle or fiber layers. If you look at a cross-section of hair under a microscope, you would see layers and layers of cuticles, sort of like the rings on an old tree stump. Cuticles protect the hair shaft from the elements, and chemicals dissolve cuticles like Drano (lye) unclogs hair in your water pipes. The more cuticles you have, the stronger your hair. The idea is to keep your hair strong and healthy.
If your natural hair has absolutely no curl or wave, you have straight hair. Your hair is very strong, tends to be oily, rather than dry. Straight hair can be fine and thin; medium textured; or coarse. Straight, fine hair is very soft. It is hard to get this type of hair to do what you want. Medium textured hair has lots of body, and coarse straight hair is the hardest to curl or shape.
This type of hair has an “S” curve to it. It lays flat against the head instead of standing away from the head as curly hair does. Wavy hair can be fine and thin, medium textured, or thick and coarse. Sometimes wavy hair can resist styling and become dry with a tendency to frizz. If the hair is very dry or thick, a little bit of our natural oils work well to smooth and moisturize this hair type.
This hair type has a definite “S” pattern to it, but doesn’t lie flat against the head. It is not as shiny as straight or wavy hair because the hair doesn’t have a smooth surface for light to reflect off of. Humidity makes curly hair swell or become frizzy. Curly hair has a lot of body. The longer the hair, the more curl. Usually the crown of the head is the curliest section. If the hair is very dry or thick, a little bit of natural oils work well to smooth and moisturize this hair type.
This hair is very tightly coiled and very fragile. It appears to be coarse, but it is actually very fine, with tightly packed thin strands. The reason it is so fragile is because it has fewer cuticles than any other hair type, so it has less protection. Kinky hair can be tightly coiled hair that when stretched has an “S” pattern, or a “Z” pattern. The type with an “S” pattern has more moisture than the “Z” pattern does, but all Kinky hair is dry. Natural oils work well to smooth and moisturize this hair type.
There are millions of people like me, who were born with unique hair types from their various mixed heritage or bi-racial roots, or from just random genetics. Like me, you may have a combination of some or all of the 4 hair types and more rarely, various types could be located in different sections of your head. Another big reason that I personally love the Hair BodipHier is that I can keep my entire head of hair (and curly re-growth) uniformly relaxed, so that my hairstyles always show ONE uniform smooth and straight appearance and manageability. Mixed hair types can appear as a splash of wavy hair on the top of the head, or random hair types in sections that will disrupt a hairstyle. Keep in mind that even hair that has been chemically straightened or is naturally without curls, will STILL require at least some sort of styling with a blow dryer after every shampoo to look its best. No one’s hair magically becomes its smoothest, straightest, and looks most fabulous, without effective thermal styling techniques (even if minimal), and from selecting the right moisturizing hair products that will also greatly enhance the final result. Once you understand which type of natural hair type you have and its tendencies, you can come up with a formula and tools, and the right BodipHier hair products to achieve the hairstyles that you want, easily.
